FRONT RANGE RESCUE DOGS, Inc.

Founded in 1984, Front Range Rescue Dogs, Inc. (FRRD) in an experienced and dynamic non-profit volunteer group committed to providing competent canine search and rescue teams to missing person emergencies.  FRRD teams work primarily in Boulder County, but have been requested to assist on searches throughout Colorado and neighboring states.  The group is available to respond 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

FRRD search and rescue teams receive an average of 50 requests for assistance per year-searching for overdue hikers or hunters, lost children, missing cross country skiers, and victims of fires, drowning or other disasters.  It takes approximately two years for a dedicated handler and dog to become qualified.

In addition to volunteering considerable amounts of time each month, FRRD members supply their own equipment, use personal vehicles to get to and from missions and practices, pay for all their own  dog's expenses, and most will have to take time off from work to respond to calls.  Members are trained in wilderness navigations and survival, search and rescue techniques, and first aid (canine and human).

FRRD also offers a variety of informative and educations programs as a community service to schools, service clubs and youth groups.  These programs detail the training and use of search and rescue dogs and well as how not to get lost and  what to do if you become lost.

FRRD is dispatched by the Boulder County Sheriff's Department
